SRRL GPS Time Server
NREL has a Symmetricom GPS receiver at SRRL that connects to a PC via the RS-232 port, which
allows us to set our time to within ±0.5 seconds of Universal Time (UT). This PC is also setup to act as a
"time server" for other computers inside the NREL firewall. Any computer with
internet connectivity can connect to our time server (midc.nrel.gov) using an
application that supports time setting via the standard time port. Some computers
have this function built into the operating systems, others may require you to
download special software. Note: Be sure your OS has been set for your
timezone and whether or not you are observing daylight savings time.
