BMSDownwelling PIR09/29/202312:40:0009/29/202313:55:00Due to an NREL-wide power outage caused by Xcel Energy, The following BMS instruments were not pointing at the sun during this time: Direct CHP-1, sNIP, CUVA2, CUVB2, TUVR; and the following instruments were un-shaded: Diffuse 8-48, CM22-2, PIR.
BMSDownwelling PIR08/22/202313:24:0008/22/202315:46:00Due to BMS south sci-tec failure, The following BMS instruments were not pointing at the sun during this time: Direct CHP-1, sNIP, MS-57, CUVA2, CUVB2, TUVR; and the following instruments were un-shaded: Diffuse 8-48, CM22-2, PIR. However automatic substitution was enabled for the CHP1-1, sNIP, 8-48, and CM22-2.
BMSDownwelling PIR08/21/202205:21:0008/21/202211:15:00Due to BMS south sci-tec failure, The following BMS instruments were not pointing at the sun during this time: Direct CHP-1, sNIP, CUVA2, CUVB2, TUVR; and the following instruments were un-shaded: Diffuse 8-48, CM22-2, PIR. Since the middle sci-tec was down (due to collision with south scitec); data was corrected on 9/14/2022 by subsituting Diffuse 8-48 and CM22-2 with RSR Diffuse, then recalating Direct CHP1-1 and sNIP using BMS Global CMP22 and RSR Diffuse.
BMSDownwelling PIR08/20/202211:56:0008/20/202223:59:00Due to BMS south sci-tec failure, The following BMS instruments were not pointing at the sun during this time: Direct CHP-1, sNIP, CUVA2, CUVB2, TUVR; and the following instruments were un-shaded: Diffuse 8-48, CM22-2, PIR. 6BMSDownwelling PIR03/29/201909:15:0003/31/201917:00:00Heavy rain caused a problem with the PIR signal cable. Data could be up to 30 W/m^2 off. Problem is most likely due to case temperature signal corruption. Cable/connector slowly dried up over the next few days.
BMSDownwelling PIR03/15/201908:00:0003/15/201916:20:00A problem started developing with PIR cable that was causing errors in the PIR case temperature (and the calculated downwelling irradiance), possibly due to melting snow. The PIR irradiance could be up to 30 Watts/m^2 off. Also there will be occasional missing or bogus values form 12:50 to 16:20, when the cable was being troubleshot. A temporary cable has been installed to resolve the issue while the original cable is being repaired.
BMSDownwelling PIR12/14/201410:00:0012/15/201423:00:00There is a problem with the SRRL BMS Downwelling PIR which is causing a possible 10-15 W/m^2 error (too low), it appears to be due to a shift in case temperature reading. Problem could be due to possible water infiltration into temporary J-box which was not oriented in the proper position to shed water. All temporary J-box have been reoriented correctly and PIR connections have seemed to dry out.
BMSDownwelling PIR12/28/201311:55:0012/28/201315:59:00Due to a scheduled NREL power outage, to upgrade campus electrical infrastructure, The following BMS instruments were not pointing at the sun during this time: Direct CH1, NIP #2, CUVA2, CUVB2, TUVR; and the following instruments were un-shaded: Diffuse 8-48, PSP, PIR. The South Sci-Tec tracker for these instruments are protected by UPS, however the battery depleted at 11:55 MST (the power outage started at 6:46 MST)
BMSDownwelling PIR12/21/201310:30:0012/21/201316:22:00Due to a scheduled NREL power outage, to upgrade campus electrical infrastructure, The following BMS instruments were not pointing at the sun during this time: Direct CH1, NIP #2, CUVA2, CUVB2, TUVR; and the following instruments were un-shaded: Diffuse 8-48, PSP, PIR. The South Sci-Tec tracker for these instruments are protected by UPS, however the battery depleted at 10:30 MST (the power outage started at 7:00 MST)
BMSDownwelling PIR03/02/201313:06:0003/02/201318:24:00Due to a scheduled NREL power outage, to upgrade campus power capacity, The following BMS instruments were not pointing at the sun during this time: Direct CH1, NIP #2, NIP #1, LI-201, NIP RG780, CUVA2, CUVB2, TWC; and the following instruments were un-shaded: Diffuse 8-48, PSP, CM22, CUV4, PIR, CG4. The Sci-Tec tracker for these insruments are protected by UPS, however the battery depleted at 13:06 MST (the power outage started at 8:06 MST)
BMSDownwelling PIR05/07/201105:55:0005/09/201107:58:00There was a planned power outage for SRRL construction activities that started at 5:18 MST. Unfortunately, the backup generator provided to SRRL was providing bad power to the UPS powering the Sci-Tec trackers, therefore the UPS failed at 5:55 MST. Unfortunately, when normal AC power was restored at 11:45 MST, the Sci-Tec trackers had lost all their configuration due to UPS cycling on and off during the outage, therefore were not tracking. The tracker settings were restored on May 9 at 7:58 MST. The following BMS instruments were not pointing at the sun during this time: Direct CH1, NIP #2, NIP #1, LI-201, NIP RG780, CUVA2, CUVB2, TWC; and the following instruments were un-shaded: Diffuse 8-48, PSP, CM22, CUV4, PIR, CG4
BMSDownwelling PIR05/27/201018:00:0005/28/201012:15:00Due to improper mounting of the replacement CH1 s/n 080033 the Sci-tec tracker was not tracking properly due to collision with the CH1 against tracker. The following BMS instruments were not pointing at the sun: Direct CH1, NIP2, CUVA2, & CUVB2 and the following instruments were unshaded: 8-48, PSP, PIR.
BMSDownwelling PIR12/09/200912:11:0012/09/200914:22:00Due to a power outage at NREL, followed by bad power, the SRRL tracker UPS shutdown. The following BMS instruments were not pointing at the sun: Direct CH1, NIP1, NIP2, NIP-RG780, LI201, TWC500, CUV4; and the following instruments were unshaded: 8-48, CM22, PSP, CUV4, PIR, CG4.
BMSDownwelling PIR11/15/200814:02:0011/15/200814:32:00Due to a planned power outage at SRRL, the following BMS instruments were unshaded: Diffuse 8-48, CM22, PSP, CUV4, DW-PIR, DW-CG4.
BMS31194F3Downwelling PIR05/25/200610:50:0005/25/200611:10:00Sci-Tec tracker #1 tracker was down due to power shutdown for installation of new SRRL equipment lift. The following instruments were UNSHADED: Diffuse 8-48, Diffuse PSP, and the Downwelling PIR.
BMS31194F3Downwelling PIR01/11/200614:16:0001/31/200623:59:00The K0 factor was mistakenly entered as -4.8 (instead of the correct -4.58) in the datalogger program. This creates a very minor 0.22 W/m^2 bias in the irradiance levels.
BMS31192F3Downwelling PIR07/23/200510:16:0007/23/200517:22:00Sci-Tec tracker #1 was down due to a scheduled NREL power outage on 7/23/2005 at 5:33 MST. The following instruments were UNSHADED: Diffuse 8-48, Diffuse PSP, and the Downwelling PIR.
BMS31192F3Downwelling PIR07/10/200509:30:0007/10/200523:59:00The SRRL BMS Sci-Tec Tracker #1 was hung up on cables during this time. The following instruments were UNSHADED: Diffuse 8-48, Diffuse PSP and the PIR.
BMSDownwelling PIR10/30/200304:00:0011/07/200321:00:00A problem with the instrument cable was causing the PIR Case Temperature to read approx. 2°C high, which caused the downwelling infrared to read about 50 W/m² high. The downwelling IR is also used for calculating the following: Net Radiation (Eppley), Net Infrared PIR (atmos), and the Diffuse PSP (vent/thermal corrected).
BMSDownwelling PIR01/14/199911:15:0001/20/199910:50:00Downwelling and Upwelling Infrared (PIRs) were not operating correctly during this time frame, this data cannot be fixed.
