Visiting the Library

Lending Policy

The NREL Library will lend material to outside requesters via their local library's Interlibrary Loan Services. Visitors may not borrow from our collection directly.

The NREL Library comprises the main Library in Golden, Colorado and the Wind Technical Library at the National Wind Technology Center near Boulder, Colorado.

Visiting Procedures

Library hours: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

  1. Please call the Information Desk at 303-275-4215 before visiting either branch.

  2. Visitors to NREL must be badged and escorted. To visit the main NREL Library, U.S. citizens park in the Visitors Center parking lot and check in with the Visitors Center receptionist. Visitors are required to show government-issued photo identification (for example, driver's license, passport, or military ID). NREL library staff will be contacted to escort you to the Library on the main Campus. Foreign nationals are required to have advance security approval.
