potential for Minnesota at a 50 meter height.
Purpose:
Provide information on the wind resource development
potential in Minnesota.
Supplemental_Information:
This data set has been validated by NREL and wind energy
meteorological consultants. However, the data is not suitable for micro-siting potential development projects. We started from the
data here: <http://www.state.mn.us/portal/mn/jsp/content.do?contentid=536887066&contenttype=EDITORIAL&agency=Commerce>,
average the 30 and 80 m wind speed values and then converted it to power
density assuming a Weibull K of 2.0 and using
elevation to estimate air density.

This GIS data was developed by the National Renewable Energy
Laboratory ("NREL"), which is operated by the Alliance for
Sustainable Energy, LLC for the U.S. Department of Energy ("DOE").
