NREL Staffer Helping to Design Geothermal Power Course at University of Nevada - Reno

NREL Geothermal team member and Colorado School of Mines (CSM) engineering professor, Masami Nakagawa, will be designing an eight-week intensive accredited course with other geothermal energy experts, which will be offered during the June 2011 – August 2011 summer semester at the University of Nevada – Reno. The course will cover all aspects of geothermal power, including:
- Business development
- Policy, permitting, and environmental regulations
- Resource assessments and exploration
- Reservoir engineering and management
- Power plant design and construction
- Direct-use applications.
The course will be offered for both undergraduate credit and post-baccalaureate graduate certification in geothermal energy. For industry professionals who do not need the intensive course, individual week modules will be offered for professional development.
