Outreach and Training for Geothermal Electricity Generation

Educating stakeholders, training a skilled workforce, and providing technical assistance resources are key to ensuring geothermal electricity generation policy development.

A skilled, local workforce capable of developing, installing, and maintaining geothermal power plants will provide local residents with opportunities to compete for new jobs in the geothermal power generation industry.

Providing outreach and education to local decision-makers about the costs and benefits of geothermal power may ease, or help address, siting and other local concerns raised by those residents whose communities will be impacted by geothermal development and power generation facilities.

The Geothermal Energy Association and the Geothermal Resource Council (GRC) organize geothermal workshops on various geothermal topics. The GRC also periodically schedules a basic Introductory Course on Geothermal Energy suitable for local decision makers and permitting and regulatory agency personnel.
