Stability Analysis of Microgrid Systems

In this seminar, Professor David Wenzhong Gao and Dr. Yan Li of the University of Denver investigate the stability characteristics and optimal design of a microgrid using the matrix perturbation theory.

Microgrids have attracted increasing attention as an effective means of integrating distributed energy resource (DER) units into the power system. However, low-inertia power-electronic interfaces make microgrids sensitive to disturbances. It is therefore essential to investigate the stability characteristics of microgrids in detail. Calculation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors plays an essential role in the stability analysis and optimal design of microgrids with multiple DER units.
