NREL performs thorough testing and evaluation of new distributed grid integration technologies to ensure these systems perform safely and reliably. These processes include power quality, pre-standards grid compliance, efficiency, and other performance testing of distributed energy resource components and systems such as:
- Photovoltaic inverters
- Battery chargers
- Community energy storage
- Microgrid switches
- Complete microgrid systems
- Grid-tied electric and hybrid vehicles
- Hybrid energy systems.
Performance analysis and control and functional verification of energy storage converters and systems are also part of NREL's testing and evaluation capabilities, which take place at several energy systems integration testing facilities.
