Solar Power: Making High Penetration Possible Workshop
The U.S. Department of Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, the Solar Electric Power Association, the Solar Energy Industries Association, the Electric Power Research Institute, and the Utility Wind Integration Group hosted the Solar Power: Making High Penetration Possible workshop on October 15, 2010, in Los Angeles, California, at the Solar Power International 10 conference.
The workshop introduced the challenges, issues, and mitigation options for integrating utility-scale PV and CSP. Speakers and participants discussed aspects of solar that are challenging for utilities, the issue of PV variability, strategies and tools to help utilities integrate solar, and use of solar forecasting.
