Office of Education Programs

Vision

Photo graphic representation of NREL Education Programs.

NREL's Office of Education develops and implements science programs that engage the young minds of our future leaders, scientists, and engineers. Connecting education to research, teachers and researchers inspire students to explore sustainable energy solutions to meet our future needs.

By cultivating partnerships with schools and community organizations, NREL serves diverse student populations-grade school through graduate school. Together, these partnerships work to spark curiosity and involve students in the fundamentals of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Valuing the important role that educators play in encouraging and guiding young minds, NREL offers opportunities to teachers that revitalize their research interests and skills, while giving them additional classroom science applications and technical content. As the country's primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research, NREL stands apart as a leader in science education, committed to excellence in teaching and learning.

U.S Department of Energy's Office of Science supports the following NREL Office of Education Programs: CCI, SULI, PST and DOE ACTS internship programs, the Colorado High School Science Bowl and National Middle School Science Bowl.
