Title:
Sunrise at the Solar Radiation Research Laboratory (SRRL)
Caption
The curved optics of the dome on this instrument distorted the horizon and cloud strata into an arc above the sensor (the flat disk in the center). This view is looking through the dome toward the sunrise. In its day job, the instrument records ultraviolet solar radiation, which is an important measurement for human health and to help predict materials degradation.
