The University of Colorado at Boulder and Crowder College tied for first place in the Engineering Design results announced today at the U. S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon competition on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. today. This house took 1st place in the over-all competition.

High resolution digital file, ~17 MB; The Solar Decathlon is a new student contest sponsored by the Department of Energy. Student teams are challenged to integrate aesthetics and modern conveniences with maximum energy production and optimal efficiency. Each team will build a uniquely designed 500-ft2 -- 800-ft2 house. Solar decathletes will transport their houses to the National Mall in Washington D.C. for the competition in the fall of 2002.
