Crowder College house
Caption
The Crowder College team is nearly ready for the public. Team members are almost finished installing the hot tub, and they have worked on their landscaping. It's starting to look like home.

The students consulted with an architect (Crowder doesn't have an architecture department) and fell in love with the his French cottage design. While the architect showed the students a design, the students taught the architect about solar power.

Notes:
High resolution digital files, ~17 MB; The Solar Decathlon is a new student contest sponsored by the Department of Energy. Student teams are challenged to integrate aesthetics and modern conveniences with maximum energy production and optimal efficiency. Each team will build a uniquely designed 500-ft2 -- 800-ft2 house. Solar decathletes will transport their houses to the National Mall in Washington D.C. for the competition in the fall of 2002. Each house will incorporate renewable energy features such as: solar - passive, solar - photovoltaics, solar - thermal. http://www.eren.doe.gov/solar_decathlon/
