Title:
Installing solar panels on Governor Romer's residence
Caption
Governor Romer's Office of Energy Conservation is managing installation of the 800-watt solar system on the carriage house complex of the governor's residence. The small system is a prototype of a residential-scale system designed to provide about half the electricity needed by a typical Colorado household. The system installed at the carriage house will provide about 15 percent of the electricity needed for the offices, a greenhouse and a garage that are part of the house. Romer wants 1,000 rooftop solar systems installed by 2000. Shown here, volunteers from Alternative Energy of Colorado and Lineman Electric install solar panels on the carriage house of the Governor's Mansion, at East Eighth Avenue and Logan Street.
