Dr. Yong-Hyun Kim joined the Computational Materials Science Group
of NREL as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in March 2003.
He received his B.S. (1997), M.S. (1999), and Ph. D. (2003)
from the Department of Physics, Korea Advanced Institute of Science
and Technology (KAIST), under the guidance of Prof. Kee Joo Chang.
He specializes on first principles density-functional calculations
of for nanostructures of real materials. He has been involved in
developing computational codes and algorithms for electron transport,
action-derived molecular dynamics, and density-functional van der Waals
interaction.
Current Research Interests:
- Energy storage and solar utilization including hydrogen storage, battery,
water splitting.
- Solar cells based on conjugation between organic and semiconductor quantum dots.
- Computational materials science.
