Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong currently holds a faculty position at the School of Physics, Institute of Science, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT),
Thailand. In April 2003, he joined NREL as a research associate. He received his B.Sc. degree in Physics (1993) from the Khonkaen University, Thailand,
with first class honors. Shortly after graduation he was awarded a scholarship from the Thai government to study abroad and pursue his higher education
in the USA. In 1999, he received his PhD degree in physics from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, under the guidance of Prof. Walter Lambrecht.
Upon graduation, he continued his research career as a visiting scientist at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in Palo Alto, California for a period
of 2.5 years under the supervision of Dr. Chris Van de Walle. During his graduate studies and subsequence research career, Dr. Sukit employs
first-principles techniques to study various properties of semiconductors ranging from bulk properties to complex mechanisms such as diffusion,
doping, alloying, phase transformation and defect formation. He has worked on variety of materials, problems and computational methods. Recently,
his research is focused on diffusion, doping and defect formation in wide band gap semiconductors. He has authored and co-authored about 30 research
papers including 10 in Physical Review journals.
His current research interests are:
- Native defect diffusion in wide bandgap semiconductors;
- Hydrogen and impurities in wide bandgap semiconductors.
