Lixin Zhang joined NREL as a postdoctoral researcher in Oct. 2006. He entered Beijing Normal University
in 1983 as a physics major and graduated four years later. He attended the graduate school of Peking University to continue
his studies and received a Master’s Degree in 1990. Dr. Zhang then went on to tutor at the Shijiazhuang
Railway Institute for the next twelve years. He began his Ph.D. studies in 2002 at the Institute of Physics (IOP),
Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) under the guidance of Professor E. G. Wang and received his degree three years later
with the help of Dr. Shengbai Zhang at NREL, Dr. Zhenyu Zhang at ORNL, and Dr. Qikun Xue at IOP. Prior to joining NREL,
Dr. Zhang worked for a year as a postdoctoral researcher at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY supervised by Professor Hanchen Huang.
His current research interests are:
- Study of the properties of interface, grain boundary and dislocation in solar cells.
- Study of the surface and doping properties of semi-conducting nano materials.
