Overview of Group Research Topics Researchers and Publications
Dr. I Batyrev is currently working on simulation of surface structure and properties of As/Ge(222) and III-V group semiconductors. In June of 2001 he joined NREL's (Computational Materials Group) as a research associate. He graduated from the Physics Department at Moscow State University where he also earned his Ph.D. During this time, he made Habilitation on short-range order and surface segregation in disordered systems (with Prof. Albert Katsnelson). He worked two years (1997-1999) at Queens University of Belfast, UK, as a Research Assistant with Prof. Mike Finnis on large-scale simulation of metal/oxide interfaces. After that I.Batyrev worked as a research associate for Physics Department, University of Texas at Austin (1999-2001) with Prof. Leonard Kleinman on magnetism of surfaces and monolayers.

He has a strong background in solid state physics and experience in following numerical techniques of computer simulations

  • Plane Wave Pseudopotential (PP-PW)
  • Full Potential Linearized Augmented-Plane-Wave (LAPW)
  • Full Potential Linear Combination of Muffin-Tin Orbitals (FP LMTO)
