AnnouncementsOnce again, we are in the midst of finalizing sessions and invited speakers for the 19th Workshop on Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells & Modules: Materials and Processes. This year, the workshop will be held August 9–12, 2009, at the Vail Cascade Resort in Vail, Colorado. Information on technical sessions, registration materials, and hotel reservations will soon be available on our Web site at www.nrel.gov/silicon_workshop. We will also be sending you a Second Announcement with all these details. We invite you to participate in this interesting and exciting workshop. The format will be similar to that of last year's workshop. Specifically, the workshop will be 3.5 days long, beginning Sunday morning, August 9, 2009 (exact time TBD). The workshop will address fundamental properties of photovoltaic silicon, new solar cell designs, advanced solar cell processing techniques, and module issues for efficient operation. This forum will allow an informal exchange of technical and scientific information between international researchers in the photovoltaic and relevant non-photovoltaic fields. The workshop will offer an excellent opportunity for researchers in private industry and universities to prioritize mutual needs for future collaborative research. A combination of oral presentations by invited speakers, poster sessions, and discussion sessions will review recent advances in crystal growth, new cell structures, new processes and process characterization techniques, and cell/module issues for future manufacturing demands. Rump Session and Reception: We will have a rump session on Sunday, August 9, at 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The title of the rump session will be decided shortly. A panel of representatives from various photovoltaic companies will participate in the rump session. Poster Sessions: These sessions will present the latest R&D results and are scheduled from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday evening (August 10) and Tuesday evening (August 11).
