Partnerships in Commercial Building Research
This page provides links to NREL's partnerships in Commercial Buildings research.
Commercial Building Partnerships
Commercial Building Partnerships is a U.S. Department of Energy-sponsored collaborative research project involving retailers, commercial real estate management companies, and a distribution facility provider. NREL and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory support this project by assisting the Commercial Building Partners as they work to reduce the energy use of their facilities.
U.S. Green Building Council — Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
NREL provides technical guidance to the U.S. Green Building Council, the organization that rates the energy efficiency of commercial buildings in the United States according to its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system. Most new commercial buildings in the United States today strive for a LEED rating of Gold or Silver after construction. NREL works with the U.S. Green Building Council on performance metrics for its LEED rating system.
