Eric P. Knoshaug is a senior scientist in the Applied Science section of the National Bioenergy Center at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. He joined NREL in August 2000 and has since worked on engineering yeast for efficient utilization of biomass-generated pentose sugars, protein design and evolution for increased activity on recalcitrant biomass substrates, and increasing lipid production in microalgae.

Current projects include:

  • Pentose utilization in yeast
  • Algal growth systems
  • Algal lipid production and nitrogen stress responses
  • Enzymatic degradation of algal biomass.
