At NREL since 2003

Chaiwat Engtrakul received his Ph.D. in Inorganic/Materials Chemistry under the direction of Professor Lawrence R. Sita at the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, in 2003. The title of his dissertation was “Ferrocene-Based Nanoelectronics: Design, Synthesis, and Evaluation.” He worked on fabricating molecule-based systems for studying electronic conduction through nanoscale objects. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at NREL working for Dr. Michael J. Heben in the area of carbon nanotubes. His studies have focused on attempting to understand the nanoscale chemistry of small molecules and colloidal semiconductor nanocrystal interactions with carbon single-walled nanotubes.
