IEEE Honors DeBlasio with Steinmetz Award

Richard DeBlasio, chief engineer for renewable electricity and end use systems with the U.S. Department of the Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), will be honored by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the world's largest technical professional association, with the 2010 Charles Proteus Steinmetz Award. The award will be presented on Dec. 5 at the IEEE Standards Association Awards Ceremony in New Brunswick, N.J.

NREL Scientists Lauded as Industry Pioneers

At the recent World Renewable Energy Congress/Network (WREN) in Abu Dhabi, three researchers from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) were named WREN Pioneers. Dr. Falah Hasoon, Dr. Chuck Kutscher and Dr. David Renné were recognized for the impact their discoveries and innovations have made to the progress and acceptance of renewable energy technologies.

NREL Honored for 20 Years of DOE Science Bowl Support

As part of its 20-year celebration, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) presented the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) with two awards for the lab's 20-year sponsorship and support of the National Science Bowl. The awards were given out by Energy Secretary Steven Chu at the finals for the Science Bowl Competition in Washington D.C.

NREL Teams with French Researchers

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) recently signed a research collaboration agreement with Tenerrdis, located in the Rhône-Alpes Region of France. As part of the memorandum of understanding (MOU), NREL and Tenerrdis will join forces on solar energy, smart grid and battery technology research as part of ongoing efforts to increase deployment and reduce the costs of renewable energy.

A minority business advocacy group has named the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory as its corporation of the year, citing NREL's contracts with minority-owned businesses and its outreach to them.

Dr. Eduard Muljadi, a researcher at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), has been elected fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE).
