Energy Data for Decision Makers
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is home to a wealth of "digital assets" or data and tools that can be linked together to derive knowledge and expand decision-making capabilities. Our digital assets platform links energy communities and decision makers such as policy makers, researchers, technology investors, venture capitalists, and market professionals — with valuable energy data, information, analyses, tools, images, maps, and other resources. The platform includes two main elements:
A Web site that features a customizable interface that connects energy decision makers with data and NREL's key value-added analyses. Access our beta release of the site to get a "dashboard" view of relevant energy data, information, and analyses, and visualizations. The data presented here stems from openVIBE, a virtual linked data platform of key data sets from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and NREL, as well as from OpenEI.
An open data platform developed by NREL — with DOE support — that catalyzes the world's energy information and links data together in new ways using "linked open data." Energy information and data will now be at your fingertips to use, edit, add, download, and build valuable new analyses, tools, and decisions. You can use and contribute to OpenEI today and to see how linked "open" data can transform the way information is connected to facilitate greater derived knowledge from analysis and presentation.
Together, these digital assets provide worldwide access to the NREL's valuable analytical capabilities to help inform energy decisions, and ultimately, to help transform our energy future.
