Organizational Objectives – Analysis
OnLocation Inc. is a consulting firm providing government and private-sector clients with analytical support in the areas of energy forecasting, energy and environmental policy, and financial restructuring. We maintain in-house versions of a suite of modeling tools including the National Energy Modeling System (NEMS), NEMS-H2 (a version of NEMS with a hydrogen market representation) SAGE (an international model), MARKAL, TRADElec™, the Policy Office Electricity Modeling System (POEMS), as well as custom built utility financial models. We also support EIA in their Short-term Energy Outlook (STEO) and WEPS models. The current areas of application and analysis are measuring the impacts of governments technology R&D programs, climate change policies, and potential sectoral level policies (like efficiency standards). OnLocation has also performed various types of data analyses, including tracking carbon emissions by company, analyses of new electric generation capacity additions, developing weather normalized load shapes and developing electric and gas data for Input-Output (I/O) accounts.
